all I know is the animals are released in a fenced in area from which they can't escape and they are hunted down..

Fences are not required to be a "canned hunt" - but sometimes they are there - for birds they have no meaning. Of course you want a fence for animals that walk - that's just good business sense and it helps the hunters know where the boundaries are as well.

Exotic animals are often used.

Beats flying to exotic locations.

birds were released right in front of the hunters

I suppose you would release them behind the hunters?

Pigeons, unlike pheasant don't try to find cover, they simply fly away.

Nice video - pigeons are varmints - it said captured from cities - they are doing the city a service - you'd prolly advocate pigeon sterilization programs to control them at tax payer expense - stupid liberal. The only trouble I have with that video is the way they were dispatching the wounded birds - they should have a little more respect or man the can with someone that does it correctly.

I'd say I'm all for some forms of canned hunts and not so pro on others. But each to his own - I don't hunt deer over grain either - but many states allow it and hunters in those states do it all the time.
