Another reason for the recent pop in NFLX is that they're increasing the DVD subscription rates starting in January. The price of the basic plan goes up $1 to $9.99/month, and the other tiers will be increased as well. That's more revenue for the company.

Does anyone think the playback issues are reasons to be concerned for the future growth of this company? Or am I just being too picky and most people could care less about things like video quality and surround sound?

Remember that streaming is still in its infancy as a home viewing medium. As bandwidth improves and capacity is expanded, the quality of the picture will get better as will the sound quality. Bandwidth is the limiting factor.

As for most people not caring, I think you're right. Just look at the MP3 market and the fact that digital sales are killing the CD industry, even though the sound is inferior. Most can't tell or don't care about the difference.
