Expensive, yes, and distant. But China has been buying every fossil fuel, anywhere they can find it. Alberta coal tar is an expensive way to make gasoline, and the Chinese are investing there.

And, of course, soldiers will follow the traders. It's only a matter of time, before China carries out Operation Uzbekistan Freedom, to bring democracy (as China defines it) to Central Asia.
