There is no constitutional excuse for segregation! Anyone, anyone, who voted agains the 64 civil rights act was a vile human being! And certainly not a civilized human being.

<<Many of the votes against it, perhaps most of them, where about racism, or pandering to racists. But not all of them. As I've already pointed out there are constitutional and libertarian issues with the law, and esp. with its judicial extensions. The idea that the constitution gives congress the power to enact a law that includes the parts of this law applying to private citizens is dubious, and while racism is obnoxious and negative for the country, racists have rights such as freedom of association as well.
