Fortunately or unfortunately, I have concerns about suicide on personal and religious grounds. Similarly, I have problems with assisting with suicide and/or abortion.

I respect your views, Cage. Like you, I do not think that any of our tax dollars should go to facilitate suicides or abortions. I do not believe in forcing taxpayers to fund actions that they oppose.

The compromise that I propose is that the federal government simply keeps its nose out of the decision process between a doctor and his/her patients.

If a doctor chooses to assist his patient with ending his/her own life, I believe the government should not interfere. At the same time, I do not think that any government insurance, which would involve your tax dollars, should pay for it.

I believe the issue of the right to die with dignity lies at the heart of our personal freedoms and liberties.
