I used to want rounds to end on the 3rd Friday. Now I think the 4th Friday is better, to allow more earnings reports to be out, and for those stocks to react.
Only a few April-reporting companies will report by April 15 before the market opens. With one more week, to 4/21 (markets are closed 4/22), many more companies will have reported.
Earnings announcements and conference calls seem to be lightest on Friday, and heaviest on Tuesday and Thursday.
And lightest the third month of a quarter, heaviest the first, and pretty heavy the second.
So I prefer 4 months,

Our rounds would end April, August, and December.
So I choose April 21 (a Thursday because the markets are closed on Good Friday 4/22).
I would like trading on Tuesday and Thursday, plus the Friday start of the round. Late entrants could not buy the following Monday, but would have to wait at least until Tuesday.
In months when there is a Monday holiday, Tuesday and Thursday work well. |
