The states you mention are low cost places to live. Ditto AL, NC, SC, FL, TX, - all the southern states.

So what? What's the relevance of it to the in/out fed tax $$? And by the way, you don't know what's you're talking about. I lived in Fl for 18 years and I still have a place there, in NC for 6 years and I have a place in Al as well now. If you own a home in Fl I can guarantee to you that it's not cheap, unless you live in the swamp...nor is NC with it's high state tax, and in AL there is a 4%+ state tax that kicks in right away, plus the sales taxes are nothing to sneeze at (9.5% in B'am)...
