The states you mention are low cost places to live. Ditto AL, NC, SC, FL, TX, - all the southern states.

So what? What's the relevance of it to the in/out fed tax $$?


The relevance is to something you contested about retirees living in and moving to those states. Those are attractive states to retirees. And lots of retirees mean federal SS (welfare to you) dollars going to those states.

You may be right about FL now, though it matters where you live. The issue of state taxes is how they compare to other places.
