I have been accumulating Csco for
years and I am sitting on a chunk of un-realized gain.

Over years I've been wanting to take profit many times but when I consulted my wife she just asked one question: "Do You Need the Money?"....

To which I reply...

Yep, we too have a significant portion of our assets into Cisco and
we thankfully don't need the money -which is why it's in the stock
market BTW. Everytime I think of realizing the profits I remember
the TAXES.... and you know what? I just pour myself a scotch and
go on with my life as if I didn't own any of that stock.

It's nice to see wealth building, but if you think of it in a short
term view and trade all the time, the only winner is the IRS -if you
call the right shots- and your broker -all the time.

Besides, locking your money into T-bills exposes you to
the vagracies of the bond markets and inflation since you have
locked into a fixed yield.... nothing is guaranteed, eh?
