Rockwell would never buy Ascend. How do you think all of the other RAS OEMs (Bay, Cisco, Lucent, Livingston, Mircocom (Compaq), Shiva, et al) would feel buying chipsets from their direct competitor? It's the same reason Rockwell won't by Zoom, or Boca or any of their other chipset OEMs.

By the way, did you see where Rockwell filed suit against Bay today for violating the K56Flex licensing agreement, and Bay said they would file a countersuit. Look's like the 'Flex family is about to start airing their dirty laundry, of which there is plenty.
