It is less costly for mainlander Chinese to depart china mainland and enter HK than it is for mainlander USA to depart america and enter HK, even if the direct cost of entering hong kong is the same for both.

As we discuss, it is no longer possible for anyone to enter HK by purchase of apartment, but must now invest in an operating company, even if operating company's biz is developing property.

The HK officialdom is trying to temper property price increase, and give us locals a chance to do a bit of front-running before they open the flood gate once again
