Yeah, sure, that would pass anti-trust muster, lol. About as likely as Toshiba buying Seagate. No way, no how.

They're on their own. It can still be a good business for years to come if the 3 major players decide to make it so. SSDs will take over eventually, but it will happen gradually, over a long period of time, at least 10 years, IMHO. In the meantime, if WDC, STX and HIT play it right, they can make a lot of money. If they don't play it right, they'll lose a lot of money. It is up to them, collectively. I can't imagine anyone new entering the business at this point.
