Bay Area has BART. LA has ?FART. I'm a Peaker; fuel costs are gonna crimp the airlines bigtime again. So will climate change regs. Alt en powered electric rail is the future, at least for intrastate, or regional, like Eugene to Seattle. Rail will replace long haul trucking, too; electric rail is 18 X as efficient. SF -> LA, downtowns, will be 2:40. SF or Redwood City to the end of the runway at SFO, after being strip searched...2 hours. An hour flight, and you get to the airport an hour out of town, if you have carry on and a car waiting with its motor running at the gate; otherwise, at least 90 minutes more.
