My memories of native communities usually have dogs in them. Five years ago we took a box of puppies the Inuit were using as polar bear bait and shipped them south and they all found good homes. They would put the puppies in a box off the pack ice to bait the polar bears and sometimes the puppies turned into a tasty morsel.

They went from Paulatuk to Norman Wells to Edmonton and then to Calgary arriving at about midnight. The only thing they had ever eaten was Arctic Char and since there was none of that available I took them all for a ride to McDonald's for cheeseburgers... it was a big mistake.
