Romney being a Mormon is going to hurt him with the bible thumpers. I know one, and she said she would never vote for Romney. Many mainline Christians view Mormons as a cultish group, and given the fact that Mormons think their founder found their religious books buried in Upstate New York, I agree with that opinion. A good example of how irrational religous thought can be. Romney ran a serious campaign last time around and it imploded with the Republican voters. Perhaps 2012 will be different.

Obama looks beatable at the moment. It's crazy since he had huge popular support amongst the disenfranchised liberal base which is large but not usually motivated to vote. He has done just about everything possible to keep this base of liberal voters disenfranchised and unmotivated to vote for him next time around. The one thing that might save Obama in 2012 is the economy. If it's on an upswing in 2012, the middle of the road voters might be happy enough with him to give him another go. Perhaps there will also be a backlash building against the rightwing Republican Congress by then that will give Obama some tail winds.
