ElM, without stretching the parallel too far, that reminds me of something: <He is going to be used as an example to dissuade copycats. Thus will suffer a more tough fate than his dealings warrant.
No one plays with 'business of the nation-states'.
It can even be that Mossad deal with him to clear its tracks. >
There was another mighty empire which made an example of some uppity bloke who went all peer to peer on the rulers, cutting them out of the loop. The Jews were apparently complicit in his demise though he was one of them. The empire decided to give a very tough fate by nailing him to a cross and leaving him there to die from dehydration, pain and suffering.
But then a whole bunch of people started copying his ideology and even when they were fed to lions and otherwise murdered in a big arena and what have you, they just kept coming. In the end, that first trouble-maker had so many copy-cats that they ended up taking over the whole empire and ruling billions of people from their HQ in the Vatican, right there in the heart of the Roman Empire, just down the road from the Colosseum, spawning many brands and other copycats.
Come to think of it, I have some sympathy with peer to peer peace, light, harmony, happiness, health, prosperity, longevity, fun and love, rather than nation-state kleptocratic murderous alpha-male territorial serf-owning tribal dominance hierarchies. I'm working on it and making good progress.
I have previously made comparisons with Cyberspace and extra-somatic sentience as nothing less than The Second Coming and possibly The Rapture. Ray Kurzweil is even planning transformation by way of uploading his mind to Cyberspace, to become an actual literal Cyberspacoid.
The rulers of the American Empire, like the Romans before them, probably don't think much about things like that. They are too busy getting the money, the girls, bossing people around and having hedonistic nihilistic fun as their chimpoid DNA limbic systems drive them to do.
The depredations of nation states are very large [half of GDP or worse when things go bad]. Julian Assange and Wikileaks seem to be no threat at all to me. They seem to be on my side.
Perhaps somebody can come up with a reason why I should worry about Wikileaks and Julian Assange rather than Big Brother, but so far there is nothing.
