Instock,

The sales were not the number of sales for the whole company, but for the brand new Apple site, for a half day of sales. So you can't compare the sales to all WinTel sales from all sources during the same half day.

A lot of people won't know about the site yet, so as the word spreads, more people will use it. On the other hand, a lot who heard about it are real enthusiasts. So those two factors are balancing.

The site is also still rudimentary, and it won't include non-US sales for some months. So it will become stronger.

Given the strength of the Internet as a vehicle, I would think that sales will build over time, as long as they continue to improve the site.

A weakness of Apple is that they abandon projects.

As this news gets out, the stock price may start to firm more quickly.
