“Do you believe in AGW or is it a fraud?

It certainly is not a fraud. I have spoken to scientists and their conviction was real. And it ought to be obvious to everyone that humans affect under the ground, on the ground, and above the ground. Acid rain was no myth, for example.

But climate is a large scale happening. Can humans play a significant role in modifying their climate? I don’t know. But someday our very survival might hinge to a large degree on how far we have advanced in the area of climate manipulation.

Are there some scientists on both sides of this issue who are opportunistic in using the issue as political grist in support of personal politics? Absolutely! Do I give a damn about being drawn into the “controversy”? Not much. Discussing this issue on SI is a big waste of time, imo.

“The controversy is significantly more pronounced in the popular media than in the scientific literature,[1] where there is a strong consensus that global surface temperatures have increased in recent decades and that the trend is caused mainly by human-induced emissions of greenhouse gases. No scientific body of national or international standing disagrees with this view,[2][3] though a few organizations hold non-committal positions.”
