Indeed.. it's always a problem to transliterate one language into another, especially English.

The reality is that the only EXACT way to spell Sun Tzu is in the native Chinese character.

I do find it odd that, while there is little controversy about his family name, Sun, there seems to be variation on his first name.. TJ says Tze.. Others say it was phonetically sounded as "Wu".. Others say phonetically it's "Si"..

I don't know.. I'm not Chinese and don't speak the language. All I know is that when any Chinese name is transliterated for the benefit of an English speaking audience, it behooves the author to attempt to adopt the prevailing transliteration convention in order to avoid confusion.
