TELECOMWORLDWIRE--(C) 1994-7 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD

A new Forrester Research report has placed the Digital Versatile Disk at the forefront of future PC innovations. The company predicts that the new read-only technology will struggle against the more versatile video tapes and cheaper CDs. By the year 2002, DVD video player penetration in the USA is expected to reach just 5.2% of households while audio players are only expected to reach 2%. The PC market, on the other hand, is likely to take to the idea more quickly due to its higher storage capacity and the ability of the players to play both DVDs and CDs.
