And, in 2012, the argument over raising income tax rates will take place in the middle of a presidential election, when pandering is at its apex and responsibility scarce. Great.

Yup...this almost guarantees that the cuts will be extended again. It's hopeless...the country's finances will have to collapse before the hard stuff gets done.
