visalia,
I am lost as to what we are debating now, my point is that Pentium /PentiumPro
demands more than the on chip cache Intel can put on the Pemtium Pro.
I am not saying Pentuim Pro is not fast so the big PC makerw won't use it
in the WS/servers.

The reason Dell, HP, DEC, Data General, NEC ... choose PPro as the
cPU for their new servers is simply it is the fastest x86 chip
around.

The reason they do not use more cache with their PPro machine is
that the L3 technic is not ready for the PC design now.

PPro will run faster with more cache but adding more cache on chip is not
a cost effective way.

Well, there have been already too many words from me on this I will stop
now. But do you see the picture?
