i highly recommend that you read "value investing" by james montier. There are several pages that are each worth the price of the book in my view. after reading parts of it for the first time i can understand why patient value investors have an edge over most market participants, and also why i have gone through periods of losing lots of money. As far as gambling stocks go. I still have about a 50% loss in a hong kong exchange listed stock melco international which is about a 40% owner of MPEL. MPEL is entirely focused in macao. I dont see any reason to invest in las vegas based stocks myself but good luck with your investing.
