I often agree with Krauthammer but think he is wrong on this one. Here's why - keeping tax rates where they are is NOT a stimulus. It might have a stimulating effect by reducing uncertainty but how does maintaining the status quo (and raising the estate tax from its current level) pump new money into the economy? The only part of the tax deal that is stimulative is the payroll tax cut, the rest is avoiding anti-stimulus. Claiming that maintaining the status quo is stimulus is the same as counting "saved jobs" as new job gains.
