I still am, as always was, a social liberal. and I believe in SS and Medicare... I think those are socially liberal ideals that also fit conservative ideals - if conservative means caring for the elderly and diabled, which I think it does - but... I am rather rock hard when it comes to spending. yes, I would cut militray spending by at least half, but not for any liberal ideals, but for the conservative ideal that the cost is just plain stupid. and so forth We're pretty much alike. I actually was a mild conservative until about 10 years ago. Or thought I was. I didn't change. But everything else seemed to. Listen the liberals with their housing projects and their welfare and their social workers may not have been perfect or even competent. But they were trying. Now a days I'm not so sure the modern liberal is trying. Just gave up. None of that stuff worked and nobody has any good ideas. I don't. Do you?
