With all due respect, and I mean that, as you seem a very nice person, you are missing the point entirely. Sorry! E.G you say: explaining in a non judgemental way the differing worldviews of liberals and conservatives. Where to begin-lol? At the beginning I guess-lol. First,take Palin as an example. She has no realistic worldview whatsoever. None, nada. Her world view is a complete Gestalted fantasy she made up in her head and bears no resemblance to reality, because she does not use facts. She just makes shit up off the top of her head and thinks that is the whole truth. But Ezra Kline, Bill Moyers, etc have very sophisticated worldviews based on facts and logic. Palin is the epitome of the conservative mind whether anyone wants to accept that or not. And so being a conservative is not some sort of esoteric difference. The difference can be measured with simple tests. So being judgemental about liberals and conservatives is no different than grading papers. And not subjective essay tests either, we are talking mulitple choice-lol. LIke how many contintents are there-lol? And why only 12% of scientists lean right while 81% lean left! It is the difference between going to a dentist with a degree in denistry and the local bar tender. I would say being judgemental there is very appropriate-lol----sometimes I crack myself up-lol. 3) And last, I am not married to any philosophy. I think we are all fools and reality is an illusion. I have no ego in this debate. I am just trying to understand as much reality as I can. I am not defending shit. Because I know how crazy we all are. Conservatives do not know how crazy we are! <<It occurred to me that it might be a good book for you since most of it is devoted to explaining in a non-judgmental way the differing worldviews of liberals and conservatives. Perhaps with greater understanding you might be able to manage more of an I'm-OK-you're-OK approach to conservatives. He takes the liberal side in the end, so you don't have to worry about being undercut, just enlightened. (This suggestion comes from my nurturing side... <g>)
