In support of the COW in Iraq, it was effective and not necessarily counterproductive in many ways.

One of the good things about the USA and the COW being willing to do it is that they get live fire practice. It also makes plenty of others circumspect about being next in line and more inclined to be shocked and awed by what can be done from a cosiderable distance. The demonstration of Predators will also make others somewhat cautious of undue provocation.

Staying in form is good for military people as it is for other skills. Where there is never any training [other than pretend], it's hard to perform well when reality comes knocking on the door. Airlines do a lot of fairly realistic simulator work to stay in form for various things which can go wrong. Civil defence people get little training so when disaster strikes, they are often flat-footed such in when Katrina hit New Orleans.

Such conflagrations as in Iraq and Afghanistan also show the need for effective supranational civilisation to avoid such horrific outcomes by sensible international agreements.

A revamped and enhanced United Nations for example could fulfill the original purpose rather than the wishy washy ineffectual horrors of Yugoslavia and Rwanda.

Most Iraqis were apparently pleased to have Saddam removed.

You are normally in favour of revolution and revolution from the outside in is as effective in zero-state reset as from the inside out. In East Timor for example, the COW did a good job of persuading the Indonesians to quit their conquest after a couple of decades of carnage.

North Korea is taking their chances with their belligerence. China isn't too pleased as they can do without excessive drama on the northern borders. Wikileaks showed that China prefers not to have carnage in the region and that North Korea should be more circumspect.

When North Korea has some good mobile CDMA/OFDM cyberspace, peace, light, harmony, happiness, health, prosperity, longevity, fun and love will break out there too.
