I browsed back a couple of posts to see how we got here.

If fraud or coercion elevated to criminal status could be shown, then you have a prosecutable crime. That may nullify the contract at the emergence of fraud or coercion.

If you're in a part of the world that is civilized and supports the rule of law, then one way or another you should be able to get out of this. Could be contract violation or crime. If you're living somewhere where the law of the jungle prevails or some despot rules, not so much. The contract means nothing and threats to your person would go unheeded.

Regardless of your ability to extricate yourself, you are not a slave unless someone has ownership of you, holds ownership papers, so to speak, and you are in an environment where that ownership can be enforced.

would leave them without options

Lots of people end up in a jam without options. It happens not only through contract but through various missteps or life circumstances. It happens sometimes to the well-to-do and educated, although mostly to the poor and uneducated. It's a bitch to be without options. But even if you are stuck without options by virtue of being under contract to some boss, you are not a slave. If you want to call this condition "virtual slavery" or "effective slavery," that works for me, but it isn't actual slavery. Slavery is a different paradigm.
