There's no argument that it is acceptable, let alone desirable, let alone compelling, to practice incest.
Who is saying its desirable to be gay? Except for some gay people. And yet gay marriage is getting treated as a civil right.

Second, it would be so rare that no one outside the immediate community would be affected by it and even then only when the parties weren't keeping it hidden. Hardly anyone would even know it was happening. There are no sympathetic characters to feature on Oprah to stir public opinion. Practices that are rare and occur on the down low just don't build an audience let along hijack a culture.

We have a legal infrastructure to enforce laws already in place too. Nothing special required .... just enforce the law.
I assumed that you had in mind some enforcement effort to root out hidden occurrences of adult incest and prevent occurrences like we do now for kids.
No, you're reading into my posts what isn't there. I believe the mother ratted this guy out. I'm only advocating not changing the status quo and I'm arguing against those voices saying, let's legalize it. Not just legalize it, but let's let them marry - your position. Speaking of costs, I imagine the ramifications on recognizing legal parent-child marriages would be big. I already mentioned estate taxes, but there would all kinds of tax, inheritance, and family law issues. Parent-child marriage would mean there'd be all kinds of changes.
in my state fornication was still a felony. It was not enforced.
Sodomy was once illegal in TX but not enforced. In order to overturn the law, gay advocates had to set up a situation where law enforcement officers were baited into a house where two guys were having sex for the sole purpose of being caught in the act. I think they used some emergency ruse to get the officers to enter but its been so long I can't remember.
But if an adult sells themself and becomes property freely as debtors have done for thousands of years ..
In that situation, why would one sell himself rather than rent himself?
