Elmer, RE: <an AMD employee claimed here that "ALL K6 BUGS HAD BEEN
FIXED>

I am not an AMD employee and never was. You flatter me. In fact AMD discourages employees from posting on SI, unlike Intel.

Can you certify that you, Paul Engel and StockMan are not receiving compensation from Intel?

If you cannot certify this, why should we believe anything you say.

What I meant to say in the post you quoted was that all bugs that had any possibility of causing problems with commercial software had been fixed. This includes the Linux bug and the "REP MOVSL" bug. The remaining errata are so obscure that no one has ever demonstrated their existence except by design inspection.

INTEL HAS 41 (FORTY ONE) ERRATA ON JUST THE PENTIUM II !!!!!!!!!!!
Of these, they fixed 3 in the second stepping.

At that rate, it might be fixed by the year 2027. It will be as bug free as the K6 by the year 2025.

OH RATS, NO IT WON'T -- Intel says it refuses to fix most of the bugs!
