"Existentialism has been misunderstood a lot, IMO, because it is such a hard concept for humans to grasp.",

Existentialism is not difficult to understand Koan.
Its as simple as the ponderence of existence, what 'IS?'

Many questions spring off that original question, mostly to give one's personal experience meaning. I would agree that it could get very deep and complex for people who seek scholarship in the field of Existentialism because with all the mental gymnastics, the effort very quickly becomes a zen paradox. However, the idea of existentialism is easy.

Heidegger put the original question in another form, "Why is there something instead of nothing," then spent his philosophical life pondering this question without ever providing a conclusive answer. I have some affection for him but IMO he was unnecessarily stuck in a narrow mind set.

Awareness is a vast sea of consciousness which is largely about existence and more specifically concerns experience; where the universe, it’s significance, and qualitative amplification becomes the foremost object of awareness... at least for us. Knowledge of things has more to do with the points of contact within that sea which you have managed to grapple into focus. JMHO
