More news that CYMI longs already know....................
FOLLOW THE GOLDEN CHIP ROAD--Advanced Micro Devices chairman/CEO Jerry Sanders, at the recent Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) forecast dinner and awards in San Jose, let slip that the SIA has completed an update to the semiconductor industry roadmap. "Today, we came out with a new roadmap for semiconductors--the SIA's new technology roadmap--which has 180-nanometer parts available in 1999. This is going to drive chip sizes down, this is going to put a lot of capability on single-chip solutions from Brian's (Brian Halla, National Semiconductor's chairman/CEO), my company and other companies, including Intel," Mr. Sanders said. Many companies today are using deep-ultraviolet lithography, which is at the wavelength of 248nm, and Intel is using prototype litho tools for "deep, deep UV," at 193nm.
