Oh, Kenneth lest you forget. Nixon's proclamation of the 1971 earth day was one of those throw away proclamations.

Nixon's proclaiming the first official U.S. Earth Day/Earth Week in 1971 fitted right into the Hippie movement of the late 1960's.

That was a sop to the anti-American fervour of that period of time within the ranks of the young people, who said H--- No We Won't Go. " (A generation that was anathema to their parents who had fought in World War II and the Korean War)

Then there are the American Indians( not foreign Indians) who had been bypassed earlier by the attention given to the Civil Rights movement of the 1950's and 1960's.

"* Totally reformed the government’s relationship with Native Americans, bringing new self-determination and civil rights to U.S. tribes while saving such Indian natural wonders as Pyramid Lake — the tribe even renamed its capital “Nixon.”

* Was even described as “the Abraham Lincoln of the Indian people.”"

These hardly prove that Nixon was an Obama Socialist type.

Incidentally, there is nothing wrong with being liberal in the classical sense which Nixon was.

Albeit, there is something wrong with being a progressive socialist such as Obama has evidenced he is in his 2 years as the titular President-----almost destroying this nation in his two years.

Thanks to the new Congress that will come in in January 2011, there is still time to unscrew the Obama damage.
