to me it's just pragmatic Ann. there are liberals in the republican party. snowe was rated as more liberal than harry reid judged by her voting record! how the heck can anyone be more liberal than reid, much less a republican.

i'll always vote for the most conservative candidate whether they are independent, democrat or republican. if it's a tie, then i'll vote for the republican. i'll do that because i figure they may get 'whipped' into voting conservative sometimes even when they don't want to.

besides all that it damages the republican's image to have one of their own voting for liberal policies. that's why people have the image that there's no difference between democrats and republicans. the rinos hurt the republican's image. the rinos damage all republicans.

i vote republican only because they are 'supposed' to be conservative. if the democrats ever (never will happen) become more conservative than republicans, i would switch to them in a heartbeat. i want the party that gives me the most freedom..
