I just weighed a 1974 Canadian copper penny, it weighs 5 grams.
1974 Penny = 98% copper, 0.5% tin, 1.5% zinc

I weighed a 2008 Canadian penny, it would not even show up on my electronic scale. It's too light.
2008 Penny = 94% steel, 1.5% nickel, 4.5% copper plated zinc

EDIT
I weighed 3 (2003, 2007, 2008) Canadian pennies, total weight = 5 grams.
