Let's not forget history. IBM bought its initial disk drives for the PC (Floppy & Hard) from Tandon, Computer Memories, and Miniscribe. These companies are all out of business (for all intents and purposes). IBM's involvement was responsible for the downfall of all of these.

So, I wouldn't bet that NCD, by virtue of suppplying NC/X-Terminals to IBM, is a guaranteed success story. Picture the outcome if they ramp up to sell 30,000 of these a month to IBM, who then cuts back their orders to 3,000 a month.

That's what Chapter 11 is for.
