Elbit wins $38 mln contract from DASA JERUSALEM, Nov 12 (Reuters) - Israel's Elbit Systems (ESLT.TA) said on Wednesday that it had won a $38 million contract to supply avionics systems to Germany's Daimler Benz Aerospace (DASA). Elbit said that under the three-year contract it would supply mission computers, screens and other avionics for F-4 fighter jets being upgraded by DASA, a unit of Daimler-Benz AG (NYSE:DAI - news; DAIG.F). ''The contract we have signed with DASA is especially important to Elbit Systems as a breakthrough in establishing co-operative relationships with a key industry in Germany,'' Elbit's president, Joseph Ackerman, said in a statement. ''We expect that the new project will serve as a basis for expanding cooperation with DASA and contributing towards deepening our presence in Western Europe,'' he said. Elbit, a unit of Israel's Elron Electronic Industries (ELRNF.TA)(Nasdaq:ELRNF - news), is a maker of defence electronics equipment.
