your observations could well be correct, companies with lans will load apps on the server and run from there, reducing the needs to purchase a huge hd on the desktop. since money usually is limited, so many pc's can be bought, and to spend it on a huge hd is silly.
but at home, i always buy the largest hd, my money will afford. why? kids software, utilities, suites, microsoft betas,.... after my last hd crashed, not a pretty site, i purchased a 3.6 gb drive, not because i need it now, but to also plan for the future. there is a computer axiom, people will expand data to fill up the drive, no matter what size the drive. i would love a 9gb drive, but for the current prices, my 3.6 was under $200, and that is the price zone i see currently as most economical. |
