I'm not sure about the immediate buy-in, but I've been told several times that that is what it causes. "By the way did you also instruct Waterhouse to request those shares from E-Trade?" Not needed. "Is there some reason you chose not instruct E Trade to transfer and ship these shares to you?" Don't trust ETrade. Won't let me sell (without signing a Power of Attorney) while shares are "in transit" between STREET and NAME. My Waterhouse broker is 5 blocks from my workplace. Free certs. Save $15.00. Just got sick of the runaround at ETrade. Did it back in August too...
