I don't know what you mean by huge. I know there is a
pent up demand exactly for $2K machines with high performance,
like the G3. At our large institution, we have strong interest
in ordering these machines since the day of the announcement.
Our Mac manager basically said he would like to replace any
remaining orphaned machines with these today. I just put a
PO in for one. I am planning on buying one for my wife before
Xmas. I haven't been in a hurry to buy an Apple machine for some
time. That changed for me, and probably for many others. That
will affect the bottom line short term.

Long term, this must only be another impulse in AAPLs effort at
growing momentum. I think we will see further acceleration in
the first quarter of '98. I don't think you will start to see any
converts from Wintel block, however, until Rhapsody is in final
release. Meanwhile, AAPL needs to maintain and recapture it's
previous customer base, and do so at a profit.

By the way, we continue to find Apple's Macs to be more reliable
than clones such as Power Computing. Apple does still have a good
name now. I think you are blowing wind, zc66.
