I'm sure illegal sales would be a problem, but then illegal sales are a problem now.

Looking at it from a perspective of individual freedom, I have made it through several decades of life without becoming a junkie, but at some point shouldn't I have the OPTION of becoming a junkie?

-- If I am 60 years old and the doctors tell me "You have serious and most likely fatal ass cancer," shouldn't I have the option of saying "F*** it, bring on the heroin"?

-- If two years later I am on life support, shouldn't my loved ones have the option of

(a) pulling life support and letting me starve to death from lack of nutrition and hydration; or

(b) shooting me up with enough morphine to kill a freaking elephant

The fact that some people are incapable of functioning under a system in which they are granted individual freedom should not result in a system under which the rest of us are denied individual freedom.
