Although he was conservative as usual, I detected a much more upbeat tone to Cal's remarks this time. A few points were clarified that should help with our guestimates as far as the production potential goes.

1. The cellphone line design capacity is 24-25 batteries per minute and the laptop capacity is about 6 per minute (if they eventually achieve the design goal).

2. Although he didn't elaborate on the number of initial shifts (darn it) we should not plan on 3 shifts for the near term. Later, yes.

3. Out of the 4 lines on order with the Italian supplier, 3 are going to N.I. and only one to Korea. Previously we had assumed two went to Korea. I like this.

4. Fairly major redesign in progress with line 1, and some changes to line 2, but both expected to be incorporated before the end of December, if all works out well.

5. Lamminating plant being created in N.I. expected to be ready before year-end also.

6. After shipping $4+ Mil out of Ireland, Valence will initially receive about $7 Mil, not the total $32 Mil from the Irish govmnt.

These are a few points I caught, and overall it seems to add up to production in Q1, 1998.

So far, no real reaction with the stock.
