Guys, there was big talk over IOM n.hand here about a year ago! We definitely knew that IOM's technology would be put on the market. I'll try to locate the discussions. To avoid confusion : IOM's technology has NOTHING to do with flash cards and, a fortiori, with SanDisk's CompactFlash Cards. It uses a different techology. Yes that's more competition. There's one big issue : cost of write device on the digital camera compared to that of flashcards. If my memory serves, IOM's products is overall too expensive. IOM's disks are very cheap for the capacity they provide but they require the purchase of a IOM n.hand drive, which costs way over $150! That's a completely different technology. Moreover, ruggdness concerns are important if we talk of portable applications like digicams and hpc,... Let's hope we'll be relieved tomorrow.
