That's a very, (how should I say) mild way of putting it.
Check out the link above as well as the studies it points to and you will see that once the camels nose is under the tent the game is over. There is simply too much room for abuse to allow doctors to actively participate in killings for any reason. Because the government is paying the bills they have an inherent and conflicted monetary interest in patients ending their lives as early as possible thereby relieving the taxpayer of the "burden". Both history and logic dictate that when government "mandates" end of life "counseling" people are right to be nervous.
