I've lived in the PNW for most of my life, so I'm very familiar with weather trends. This is what I've observed. Until 2008 we've had typical summers.............cooler than the rest of the nation with temps averaging 74. We will occasionally reach the mid-80s but typically stay in the mid to upper 70s all summer. In 2008 we had three weeks of over 90 and 5 days in the 100s. That was quite shocking as I don't recall ever being over 100. I admit, I felt like perhaps I should re-evaluate my position............then we went through the summer of '09.........typical...........and then the summer of '10. I don't think we broke 80 once??? and if you ask any person from my neck of the woods they'd tell you it was the summer that wasn't as it was very cool and cloudy with lots of rain all summer.

We have had three yrs in a row of long term below freezing weather and snow each of those three winters. This is very unusual for our area as we live in a temperate climate and are normally warmed enough from the Japanese current to avoid below freezing temperatures. If anything, I feel like we've entered a mini ice age.

The thing that really bothers me is that men think they are so Omnipotent they can control climate. I think that is one of the most egotistical things I've ever heard and it sickens me.
