So Yusuf Islam says several offensive things at different times and venues and then when there is a negative reaction, he says "heeheehee, just kidding!!!" and he gets a pass from you? Of course, we've all made inappropriate offensive jokes at the wrong time. If he REALLY believes these things, he wouldn't deny them later. He knows (I presume) that there is freedom of speech in England and he can express his views on the fatwa openly. The non-Muslims of the world can't even agree that a person who rapes and murders 10 year olds should be put to death. I can't believe that Muslims think an 18 year old Muslim girl who falls in love with and marries an 18 year old non-Muslim boy, then changes her religion to his, should be killed. I'm sure some of them do believe this, but I have a hard time believing its the standard view. And if it is the standard view, they would say so. There wouldn't be the public outcry that you mention because.....that's what all their peers think as well. Queen Noor of Jordan could say as much on Jordanian TV every day, and her subjects would cheer.
