"I guess you just googled for something related to buddhism and freethinker"
No. I have hundreds of religious sires bookmarked and categorized. What I posted was condign to the conversation and I agree with 95% of his article. Thanks for reading all of it. I knew that your previous claims to not reading long articles was simply an evasion on your part. I was never fooled by it.
The 5% of his article that I would not support because it comes from his personal bias rather than his love of freethinking is the parts you quoted. Nevertheless, if people took the good from religion and left the ugly, there would be little detrimental in the moral impact of their faith.
I am not going to cherry-pick sentence by sentence when I post a relevant article. But I am always prepared to parse the article sentence by sentence. Not a problem.
Perhaps you missed this or glossed over it too quickly. The major thrust of his article on religious tolerance and his (mostly correct) views on freethinking is that choosing a value system can BE a thoughtful process--and not necessarily a mindless one.
"Today, all over the world, people are fighting to propagate their own religious beliefs. They are fighting, harbouring jealousy, and creating hatred towards other existing religions. There are people who had been practising their religion for more than two or three thousand years as part of their cultural heritage or way of life. The rich legacy, rich psychology, philosophy, respectable and harmless life, morals and ethics have helped them to lead a noble life. Yet, some other religious groups try to force them to accept their religious beliefs by promising to send them to heaven, as if they have been given the sole authority to monopolise heaven. They try to tell others that only through their religion, can people go to heaven." |
