2008 was a bad cycle for Republicans, but it's hard to imagine anyone doing worse than McCain did. Whether they would have won or not, Huck or Mitt would have done better. Most if not all of us here are more conservative than the country as a whole, but whether a presidential candidate leans right or left, they have to be perceived publicly as a moderate.
