In what Muslim countries have you lived? The United Arab Emirates. I was married in a sharia court - that was the only option! Are there editorials run in the newspapers in such countries protesting such practices? Nope. The UAE is a "benevolent dictatorship" without a "free press". There were no serious editorials criticizing Islamic practices anywhere as I recall. If you wish to defend Islam I've no wish to do so. I'll leave that up to the Muslims.
