It can be and is, suppressed. "Paradoxically I find that this increases my moral responsibility - without a fixed external authority that i recognize, the basic mandate to be good requires that I think about what is good from the ground up." How can you build from the ground up if you deny the existence of ground from the onset? I fail to see how you can come up with a binding mandate or even define the good. It comes down to being equal to what you want to do anyway.
